The 5th of November sparks (see what I did? Two puns in one!) a new era in the UK for drone users.
Today was the day you could register to be a drone “pilot” and the 30th of November is the day you must have done it by or you are breaking a new aviation “law”.
What is it? Well it simply registers every drone pilot and or flyer of drones and states that you are not allowed to fly unless you have completed an online test and as a drone owner you need to pay a sort of annual fee/tax of £9 to own an fly.
Why? To introduce some sort of structure into the growing market and give authorities the ability to build a picture of drone users demographically and to maybe try and root out people who are causing a stir at airports.
These rules are new to the UK but have been in place in countries like Canada for some months now.
Anyway – watch my video or click on some links if you are interested.

In the news
Ok, so it sounds obvious.
“Its not rocket science!”
“Who is this guy?”
“He’s just creating videos for the sake of it now…”
What… I can’t believe people are saying such things!
Watch it. Don’t watch it. But I’m telling you now nothing beats pulling on a dry t shirt, socks and gloves in the middle of wet cold winter bike ride.
I’m a great believer in making the most of what you’ve got when it comes to mountain biking. Whether that be in terms of your bike and budget (any bike will do honestly it will), or where you live.
We can’t all live in the Surrey Hills, Scotland, Snowdonia or … Bristish Columbia, but everywhere you go is something you can find to ride.
You can rip up the streets urban style like Sam Pilgrim or you can find a small patch of woodland and just ride it!
Doesn’t have to be steep, gnarly, and long – with just a little bit of imagination you can turn anything into some fun.
This “trail” is only 15-20 seconds long but it has a steep roll in, some loamy turns and a small drop off.
I’m not sure I ever did a proper review of these books. I always intended to.
Anyway – this isn’t a proper review either its just a quick recommendation in the form of a video.

I’m not a roadie hater, or embarrassed to ride on the road on a road bike – BUT I DON’T HAVE A ROAD BIKE ALRIGHT!!!
But I do think that “they” as a breed can be a little odd.. The lyrca and brightly coloured team kits for starters!
Anyway, a few years ago I was tempted by the “dark side” as its often referred and then I discovered you get “road bikes” that you could also ride off the road! This sounded more like me! Continue reading “Its not a road bike OK!”
