I’m not a roadie hater, or embarrassed to ride on the road on a road bike – BUT I DON’T HAVE A ROAD BIKE ALRIGHT!!!
But I do think that “they” as a breed can be a little odd.. The lyrca and brightly coloured team kits for starters!
Anyway, a few years ago I was tempted by the “dark side” as its often referred and then I discovered you get “road bikes” that you could also ride off the road! This sounded more like me!
The hunt was on and I eventually picked up a Genesis CDF. https://road.cc/content/review/61480-genesis-cdf
Its the kid brother to, or the poor mans version of, the Croix de Fer.
Whats different to this and a road bike? Its made of steel, it has slacker fork angles and altogether more forgiving geometry for taking to the tracks and trails rather than the black stuff – ok hole riddled, gravel strewn, grey stuff – the roads.
It gets me to the trails quicker (off the road quicker), means I can do some long rides that include less than ideal surfaces and it helps to tune some skills.
In short – I love riding it!
Anyway, on the 2nd August 2019 the Genesis Croix De Fer was 10 years old, and I thought this 10 year anniversary was a good excuse to go and ride my CDF and make a little video to show how a mountain biker can have a lot of fun on a bike with curly bars..
